Subaru believes we all should have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) and their local hospital or cancer treatment center to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by retailers and Subaru customers in their stores, to support patients facing cancer. Through our partnership with LLS, we've supported nearly 350,000 cancer patients nationwide. We're proud to be LLS's largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers will have supported more than 470,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with a local animal shelter every October to provide direct financial assistance and host adoption events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, we have donated over $51 million, which has supported the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 420,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.

Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.
First Team Subaru Norfolk recently participated in the Subaru Loves to Learn initiative, giving back to the local community by supporting Lake Taylor School in Norfolk, VA. As part of the event, we donated $11,000 in grants to 11 teachers at the school, helping them purchase much-needed supplies for their classrooms. These funds will go toward everything from books and educational tools to basic classroom materials. In addition to the financial support, First Team Subaru Norfolk, along with our employees and customers, donated a wide range of school supplies including backpacks, pens, and notebooks. The outpouring of support from our community truly showcased the spirit of collaboration that makes the Subaru Loves to Learn program so special. At First Team Subaru Norfolk, we believe in the power of education and community. We’re proud to support the dedicated educators at Lake Taylor School and look forward to continuing our efforts to help students and teachers thrive. During October’s Subaru Loves Pets Month, our showroom was filled with excitement as we hosted an adoption event with the Norfolk SPCA. Little did we know, this event would lead to a heartwarming reunion of sorts for one of our own team members, Maddi, who had recently lost her beloved childhood cat, Fred. The loss had left a deep void in her heart, and she missed him dearly. But that day, fate had something special in store for her. As she walked through the event, Maddi spotted a cat named Frezco who looked just like her beloved Fred, right down to his gentle eyes and soft fur. Even more remarkably, their names were so similar. It was as if Frezco was meant to find her. Maddi was instantly drawn to him, and the moment she held him in her arms, it was love at first sight. Tears of joy filled her eyes as she realized she had found a new companion who reminded her so much of Fred. However, there was a challenge: Maddi's shift wasn’t over until 6:00 PM, and the shelter was set to close at 4:30 PM. Seeing the joy and emotion in her eyes, our management team and fellow service advisors quickly came together to help. We all pitched in to cover Maddi’s workload, ensuring she could leave early to make the adoption official. Her husband even left work to meet Frezco, and it was clear from the start that this sweet cat was already part of their family. After spending six months waiting in the shelter, Frezco finally found his forever home. Now, he’s thriving in his new life, sharing a beautiful bond with Maddi and even becoming best friends with their dog Hailey. This story reminded us all of the power of love and second chances, making this Subaru Loves Pets Month truly unforgettable.
At First Team Subaru Norfolk, community involvement is at the heart of what we do. Recently, we partnered with ForKids shelter for Operation Warm back in February and decided to give again after cleaning out the back of our Parts department and finding some socks from a previous Subaru Loves to Help event. In return, we received a heartfelt gift: a framed cow portrait drawn by Benly, one of the children who they serve in the Norfolk community. The framed portrait is a reminder to the impact small gestures can have on our ongoing commitment to making a difference.
On Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, First Team Subaru Norfolk had the opportunity to deliver 80 blankets to Virginia Oncology Associates - Norfolk as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program. The blankets were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by customers in the community and staff of First Team Subaru Norfolk. These gifts were warmly received by the staff and patients, with staff showing their excitement as they know how much these gifts of love and support are appreciated. It was a wonderful day and heartfelt thanks to First Team Subaru Norfolk for joining the LLS mission to create a world without blood cancer.
June's Love Promise Moment at Subaru was truly heartwarming and impactful, as it fell within the Subaru Loves to Care month. This month, our team was thrilled to participate in an initiative that brought joy and comfort to those in need. We received eight boxes filled with super cute and soft blankets, each one a symbol of warmth and compassion. These blankets were destined for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by blood cancers. The excitement in our team was palpable as we prepared for the delivery, knowing that our small act of kindness would bring a bit of comfort to those facing such challenging times. On the day of the delivery, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of purpose and empathy. As we handed over the blankets to the representatives from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, we could see the gratitude in their eyes. The blankets would not only provide physical warmth but also serve as a reminder to the patients and their families that they are not alone in their battle. It was a touching moment for all involved, as we witnessed firsthand the power of community support and the difference it can make. This Love Promise Moment reinforced Subaru's commitment to caring for our community and highlighted the importance of small gestures in making a significant impact on the lives of others.
First Team Subaru Norfolk has worked with ForKids since 2019 to help families in the Virginia Beach area with unstable housing. This February the dealership came together to carry out Project Warm, by providing 180 coats to the ForKids closet which were distributed to families during their monthly event that allowed families to come in and grab different household supplies such as clothing, nonperishable items, and toys.
First Team Subaru Norfolk has been partnering with ForKids.org to provide financial support in total donating $14,00 in the past year to help the organization with shelter costs, assisting in community efforts to help house 85 families in need in the Norfolk area in 2023. The relationship has been strong between First Team and ForKids, going back since June of 2020. In total, First Team has donated 67,676.69 to the organization, with a high of 20,000 during the 2022 year!
First Team has also partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma society to provide cases of blankets every year to the shelter during the fall/winter season. The team has been dedicated to helping this cause since 2020 donating, cases totaling hundreds of blankets to those affected by illness and their families.
As part of the Subaru Loves to Care® Initiative First Team Subaru Norfolk partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®(LLS) to give warm blankets to local cancer treatment centers. First Team Subaru Norfolk chose Sentara Brock Cancer Center. On July 18th over 50 blankets were delivered to the patients.
As part of the Subaru Loves to Care® initiative, First Team Subaru Norfolk partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to give warm blankets to local cancer treatment centers. On behalf of our patients, we want to send a huge THANK YOU for choosing VOA at the Brock Cancer Center to distribute blankets. These blankets really help to keep our patients warm while they are receiving treatment in the infusion room. 💜
Dashboard warning lights problem solved! After multiple occurrences of confusing warning lights appearing, we contacted our dealer’s service department. The service manager, Zach, was very helpful with specific advice and long distance support. Between him, advisor Katie, and driver Don, we got exceptional service and warranty support without any hassle. Patients battling blood cancer are in the fight of their lives. Every three minutes in the U.S., a new patient joins those diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. The recovery is long and often leaves them feeling weak, cold and isolated. This August will mark the 7th year that First Team Subaru Norfolk has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to bring love and hope to these brave patients in the form of warm blankets and hand-written notes of encouragement. First Team Subaru Norfolk in Norfolk, VA, is proud to be a part of this effort. We hope these blankets and messages will spread warmth, love, and hope where they’re needed most and will let these strong people and their families know we care.

As southeastern Virginia’s largest homelessness recovery program and shelter, The Union Mission Ministries is grateful that First Team Subaru Norfolk cares for our neighbors in need in Hampton Roads. Each fall for the past several years, the dealership has brought us a generous donation of blue fleece blankets that provide both warmth and waterproofing. This year’s Subaru Loves to Help donation of 81 blankets will be a blessing to us and to our community partners who assist those living on the streets. Together, we can provide those experiencing homelessness with help and hope to build a better future. The Norfolk SPCA partnered with First Team Subaru Norfolk on October 16th for a successful adoption event. We brought six dogs to the event in hopes that they would find their forever home and one of the dogs was adopted as a direct result of the event. We are so thankful for all of the love and support the dealership has shown to the shelter and look forward to partnering again next year!

May 21,20200-Through the Subaru Love Promise and the Subaru Loves to Help initiative: First Team Subaru of Norfolk and our generous caring customers today donated 350 pounds of food to the Food bank of Southeastern Virginia. Which is over 300 meals to help people in need. We thank all of those who participated.
First Team Subaru has been an ongoing source of support for the Portsmouth Humane Society since opening its doors. The commitment to helping homeless animals has now been extended to the new location at First Team Subaru Norfolk. Over the last Three years, First Team has been a sponsor for the Portsmouth Humane Society. First Team Subaru Norfolk opened its doors on April 1st and was able to hold its first in store adoption event on 10/19/19! With that being said, First Team Subaru Norfolk will continue the tradition of supporting the SPCA’s efforts to provide a means for homeless pets to find a place to call home.
Perry Subaru and Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia partnered to support the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks Meals on Wheels provides.
30.3 million Americans live with diabetes of that number, 7.2 million do not even know they have it. Perry Subaru partnered with the American Diabetes Association and Bon Secours medical personnel to offer customers and members of our local community FREE glucose and blood pressure screenings from 3:00 pm to5:00 pm in the Perry Subaru showroom to evaluate their risk. We are also providing valuable educational materials on diabetes and its prevention, supplied by our partners the American DiabetesAssociation. Knowing is half the battle, a five-minute test that can change a life. This is a charity that is very close to our hearts here at Perry and we are always glad to partner with the American Diabetes Association to help fight diabetes.

These crucial funds help fund research,support our efforts protecting the rights of people living with diabetes and help us to educate the population on their risk for diabetes. Unfortunately on December 1st I was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia, which has required a nearly 4 week stay in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. While the chemo treatments have been tough, I am fortunate that everything is going as it should. Needless to say, I was bummed out at the prospect of spending today, Christmas, in the hospital. But lo and behold, this morning the nurses brought me a present of a beautiful, soft blanket - which is a gift fro Perry Subaru. Thank you, thank you! We would like to thank our customers for participating in our E Waste Recycling event during the month of April. With your help, we were able to prevent 5,208 lbs of carbon emissions from polluting the atmosphere. This is equivalent to saving 200 trees, 886 gallons of gasoline, 7,550 plastic bottles, and 34,727 aluminum cans. Thank you for helping strengthen the Subaru Love Promise!
Throughout the month of April, we are hosting an E-Waste Recycling Event in our store to collect unwanted electronics. We've arranged to work with a company who will responsibly collect, re-purpose, and recycle your electronic waste. Help us protect our environment. Just show up with your E-Waste and we'll do the rest! The first 50 customers who contribute will receive a complimentary environmental badge of ownership. We will accept: LCD Monitors, Cell Phones, Laptops, Tablets, CRTs up to 40, Video Games/Consoles, Fax Machines, DVD/VCR Players, Printers, Computer Peripherals, Switches/Routers, Cords and Wires.
